The Norwegian King’s Guard Veterans Band and Drill Team (NGD) was established in 1986. All of our members have completed their military service as soldiers or officers in His Majesty the King’s Guard, 3rd Company.

Wearing uniforms similar to those used by HMKG during the period 1870–1910, the Veterans Band and Drill Team performs a wide variety of displays both at home and abroad.

NGD’s Veterans Band performs drill displays, parades, and concerts, and our bugles and drums can lift any occasion with their powerful fanfares. The Drill Team performs impressive rifle displays using the American M1 Garand, weighing 5.5 kg with bayonets. A varied and exciting rifle drill is performed, including complex formations and rifle throws.

NGD has participated in several international tattoos over the years, including:

  • Birmingham International Tattoo

  • The Netherlands Military Tattoo

  • Belgium International Tattoo

NGD is also a regular performer during “Gardens Dag” and in the parade on Norway’s Independence Day, appearing with both flags and instruments.

NGD is a private civilian organisation. However, we maintain a very close cooperation with HMKG. NGD performs displays with and for HMKG several times throughout the year. In addition, NGD assists with parades, charities, and other events as an independent unit.
